Bioinformatics Specialist


Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop complex bioinformatics analysis algorithms for secondary data analysis of next-generation sequencing technology. Algorithms include base calling and signal processing, mapping, assembly, abundance and load estimation
  • You will be responsible for defining, creating, developing, implementing, and unit testing these methods
  • You will work with very large data sets and will be responsible for the computational and integration aspects of the developed algorithms
  • You will also be required to assist the sales and marketing team to expand and create awareness in the market for next-generation sequencing data analysis tools



  • Candidate must possess at least Masters or Bachelor’s Degree or Professional Degree in Bioinformatics or Computer Science or equivalent. Candidate with Master or Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology with strong knowledge in bioinformatics would be an advantage
  • Ability to do Perl/BioPerl and Shell Scripting Database programming, PHP scripting and algorithm development skills would be an advantage
  • Experience in developing algorithms for sequence analysis in complex genomics applications is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of sequence assembly would be an advantage
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Required language(s): English, Bahasa Malaysia
  • Fresh graduates/Entry level applicants are encouraged to apply
  • May require occasional outstation travel
  • Superior communication skills in highly diverse cross-discipline environment
  • Possess a valid driving license and own vehicles

Internship Program


BioEasy offers paid internships for students who are interested to pursue a career in bioinformatics. This is a great opportunity to gain research experience in the bioinformatics field with the exposure to high-throughput sequencing data analysis. Selected interns will be assigned to a senior bioinformatician to work on the next-generation sequencing data. The internship projects may vary from data analysis in human exome, transcriptomics, whole genome sequencing, metagenomics, or the interns can be involved in the development of bioinformatics pipeline and database.

Selected interns will have the exposure to different bioinformatics applications in the market and the opportunity to attend any bioinformatics workshops and seminars conducted by our bioinformaticians.


  • A final year student or student graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science / Bioinformatics / Computer Science / Molecular Biology or any related field from an accredited college or university
  • Experience in handling next-generation sequencing data and knowledge in LINUX OS or any programming language (eg: perl, C++) is an added advantage
